Recorders : 2014-2015

7th July 2015

I would really like to say a huge thank you to all of the recorder children for attending our 'Musical Evening'.

It was a great evening and I have to say I was incredibly proud of all who played.

The Year 1 recorders were fantastic and played really well, especially as it was their first concert in front of a huge crowd.

The Year 2 recorders were truly wonderful, they have worked so hard, perfecting their performance. I am especially proud of Lauren Blake and Aleysha Shewring for having the confidence, commitment and enthusiasm to play a duet, you were awe inspiring!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support and also to say I will definitely miss the current Year 2 who have all been incredible. I hope you all continue playing instruments and maybe one day, who knows I shall see you on 'Britain's Got Talent'.

Thank you  for a lovely year.

Year 1 Recorders have been working really well together since we have joined Sparrows group and Owls group together.

Recorder Club 2014-2015

Recorder clubs are well underway....

YEAR 1 RECORDER CLUB.... Owls class is on Tuesday lunchtimes.

Sparrows class is on Wednesday lunchtimes.

Currently in Year 1, I have 31 children attending, they have a lot of enthusiasm and enjoy learning to play the recorder.

To help the children maintain their progress I have asked them to practise at least 3 times a week, for 5 minutes. I would appreciate your support with this.

YEAR 2 RECORDER CLUB.... Kestrels and Kingfishers is on Mondays afterschool.

Currently in Year 2, I have 15 children attending, they are a wonderful group hoping to continue their superb achievements of last year.

So far, they have proven to be the best Year 2 recorder club as they've already learnt new music and notes, than previous years.

I am so excited and truly looking forward to another successful year of practise and performances.

I am extremely proud of the children who attend recorders week in, week out they have been a lovely group of children and i hope they wish to continue learning the instrument either here or at their new school next year.

I am really looking forward to teaching recorders again next year and i am already preparing the current Reception children ready for September.

Year 2 After school recorder perfomance for parents 25/03/14

Well done Yr2 recorders, you were absolutely fantastic, you made me so proud, looking around and seeing the smiles on your parents' faces was lovely.

Thank you children, keep practising, and a huge thank you to your parents for their continued support.

Results of the parents' questionnaire completed after the perforance are:

5 out of 5 parents said the performance was lovely and  it was great to see how confident the children were.

3 out of 5 parents said they had noticed an improvement in their child's handwriting. (Playing the recorder helps to develop fine motor skills).

5 out of 5 parents said they would like to be invited to more performance sessions. One parent commented "It's nice to see how the children play together".

5 out of 5 parents said their child practises at least 3-4 times a week. One parent commented "My child practises at least 5 minutes every evening".

5 out of 5 parents said the sessions didn't need any improvement, however 3 out of 5 parents expressed a wish for recorder lessons to continue when they go up to their Junior school.

21st January 2014

Wow! Recorders had their first performance in front of the rest of the school today. They made me feel so proud as they all performed wonderfully well. I am really looking forward to posting more pictures and information with their achievements.

Recorder lessons are run by Mrs Clarke for children in Years 1 and 2. They are weekly at either lunchtimes or after school.

Year 1 Lunchtime Recorders

Is really popular with a waiting list for children wanting to join in the fun.

There are currently 20 children who attend:

They work hard and the benefits are starting to show. They are really enthusiastic. They are ready for their first assembly performance which will be in an assembly for the rest of the school to see.

Thank you for supporting your child, I would be grateful if your child could play the recorder for only 5 minutes every night in order to continue the good progress they are already making.

Year 2 After School Recorders

Is a small group of Year 2 children.

There are currently 11 children who attend:

This small group of children try really hard during the lesson, and would appreciate any practise at home being done regularly.

In a few weeks time i will be inviting the Year 2 parents to come and listen to their children play and see the progress they have made.

Thank you again for your support.
